As regular visitors to my website will already know, Sean O'Connor is currently in the process of releasing a Philip Lynott tribute CD. He is donating the single to the Trust after
having spent a lot of his own money on it, but as he says: "I`ll be happy if it helps to preserve the memory of a dear friend".
Some of you may already be familiar with Sean's music from the days when his band THE LOOKALIKES opened for Thin Lizzy back in the early 1980's.
I have been fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of the CD and include my thoughts on it below. For me, this CD is my first exposure to his music and I'm definitely hooked.
Where to start! As Philomena Lynott says to Sean on the liner notes: "Over the years I have heard many different versions of Philip's music, but this was one of those rare moments when I felt you had captured the feeling and charm of this beautiful song."
As great as the opening track and performance is, it is the second song I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU (Sean O'Connor) that I couldn't get out of my head. Convincingly emotional, but not over the top, this song has an unforgettable hook you will be singing to yourself long after the CD has ended. The musicians include SEAN on vocals, guitars and bass; DAVID SANDLER on drums; PAUL LYTTLE on keyboards; and featuring CLARENCE CLEMONS (of Bruce Springsteen's band) on sax.
STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU and I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU. Isn't that pretty much how we all feel about Philip and his music?

The title track STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU (Philip Lynott) is very much a Sean O'Connor personal tribute to Philip. Not only did Sean arrange the song, but he played and sang all the musical parts except drums (which were played by David Sandler). While this project was apparently self-funded there isn't the slightest hint of cutting any corners and the end result is simply exceptional. What more can I say about a super performance of a classic song.
