DUNDAS

In 1980 (THE real CANADIAN) James Taylor's Silent W. Productions released: DUNDAS (the band) vinyl 45 rpm single ... "Bloodshot In Your Eyes" b/w "Can't You Hear Me", recorded in late 1979.

Biography:
Peter (bass) met James (guitars, bass, vocals, songwriter) at University and they became friends. Deciding to form a band, which would eventually become DUNDAS, they added Dieter (guitar, vocals, songwriter) and his friend Wayne (drums).

Shortly before their only vinyl was recorded and released, Peter moved away and the band continued as a trio.

The A-side "Bloodshot In Your Eyes" was written and sung by Dieter (aka Schultz).

The B-side "Can't You Hear Me?" was written and sung by James (aka trcjt and Jaime).

A bit of historical trivia, the final half-track master for the single was recorded at Hamilton's famous Grant Avenue Studios.

The single developed quite a cult following including various countries around the world in the PRE-INTERNET era. It sold more copies in Norway than in Canada!!! hahaha. A DJ in Czech was desperate for a copy but unable to send money out of his communist country so he did a trade for a copy. Also there was a DJ in Poland who "must have" a copy.

And the 'biggy' was that punk icon JELLO BIAFRA bought some copies of all 3 SWP releases but his favourite was the DUNDAS single. He first heard the INNOCENT EP at an after gig party and wrote down the details so he could source it after his tour was over. Once he heard all 3 SWP releases he wrote back and wanted to buy 10 more copies of the DUNDAS single "so that the people who need to hear this, hear this".

There are a lot of comparisons of DUNDAS to Neil Young. One guy wrote that when his Neil-Young-fanatic wife heard him listening to "Can't You Hear Me" she gave him shit for not sharing with her this Neil Young song she'd never heard before.
